I'm going to begin our weekend on Thursday night when we got to celebrate the birth of our newest friend Brewer. Baby Brewer was born to our wonderful children's director Stephanie on Thursday, weight 6 lbs 15 oz. He is absolutely precious and handsome. There is something so good about holding a brand new baby. He was only 6 hours old when I saw him.
Friday afternoon we went to Denton. Our first stop was over at the Fry Street/Hickory area by the UNT campus. Woah - they have completely renovated that place! It used to be old restaruatns and bars (The Tomato?) but now is sorta uptown chic. We ate dinner at a new place called All About Mac, a macaroni and cheese emporium that has 25 types of gourmet mac 'n cheese. I had heard about this place and been dreaming (literally) of a mac 'n cheese that had sourcream, chives, cheddar, and bacon. Guess what? They had it. The loaded potatoe mac 'n cheese. It was an awesome blend of macaroni meets potato soup with plenty of cheesy goodness.
Post dinner, we took Eva to the Denton Square. We snapped a few family pics and taught her all about John B. Denton, the pioneer Denton was named for. Since I used to teach a whole unit on Denton I am pretty much a John B. Denton expert. Lucky Eva.
Then we heard my best friend Ashley Gatta perform a concert on the square with her band, Ashley Gatta and the Free People. Eva enjoyed dancing and rocking out to Auntie Ashley's music.
Saturday was spent relaxing. I am awful at relaxing. I just keep thinking of all the things I want to be getting accomplished. We wore comfy clothes and just stayed home for most of the day. My mom bought Eva some big girl jammies last week that are the kind that have separate pants and top instead of footie pjs. These are more for spring/summer but we let her run around in them all day on Saturday and she was so adorable. And look at my girl riding forward in her car seat! Big fun.
Sunday of course was church. I was loving the striped dress Eva wore. I tried to talk her in to a mini photo session but she wasn't so interested. I love her frowny face....and look at those sweet feet!
Lastly our weekend ended with another visit to baby Brewer! We are besties already. I took his family some chicken spaghetti, but let's be honest, the real reason for my visit was to see how cute he looks in his jammies.
