Eva was talking some before she turned 18 months, but since that milestone I feel like her desire to communicate and try to say new words has exploded! Now granted, lots of these words are mostly understood by me and many of them sound very similar. But being the one who spends most days with her, I can definitely tell that she is trying to repeat and communicate so much more to me. Before turning 18 months I'd say that her favorite word was "Mama." She'd say it all day long. {insert heart swooning} Now she's added words like "baby" (for her baby doll), bebeee (her binky), bup (cup), dat (as in I want that, give me that, what's that), "hot," "hess" (yes) and "mine" (she picked up that accidentally!). So what's her newest favorite word?????
NO. She's known how to shake her head "no" for a while and then this week the word finally popped out. Most of the time it actually comes out kind of cute like, "naaww" but she definitely knows what she is saying. I realize that all toddlers learn to say no to their parents. I just don't want my toddler to say no to me, especially when it's in response to something I want her to do.
I've also realized that I'm so used to asking her to do things in the form of a question "Can we put your pants on?" instead of saying it like a command "Put your pants on, please." So I'm going to work on not stating things like a question unless I'm actually asking her opinion.
Sigh. Am I ready for this big girl? Nooooo.
