Breakfast with the Bradleys

Oh the irony of me actually blogging about "Breakfast with the Bradleys." When I came up with the title for this post I giggled and thought to myself, "Kate, you are so punny." I love a good word play.

This morning it was decided that I should post about a favorite tradition in the Bradley apartment. Ryan and I LOVE to have a special Saturday morning breakfast together. This weekly tradition started many years ago, and continues to be a special blessing. During the work week I've always been in a rush to get out the door. I eat a boring breakfast that includes things like cereal, oatmeal, and yogurt. On Sunday mornings it is Ryan who is up and out the door super early to get things loaded and set up for church. But on Saturday, we sleep in a little and enjoy a nice leisurely breakfast.

Saturday is also the perfect morning for those less than healthy beloved breakfast foods that you shouldn't over indulge in during the week. Pancakes. Waffles. Cinnamon Rolls. Orange Danish Rolls. Hash Browns. Sausage. Bacon. I truly enjoy breakfast foods. We wake up on Saturdays, stumble around in our PJs, and cook together in the kitchen. Even if it's just popping some orange danish rolls in the over it's still fun to celebrate Saturday. Thankfully, our apartment complex recognizes the value of this tradition and once a month has free Chickfila breakfast that we can walk over and pick up.

Today's menu was eggs (cooked 2 ways - scrambled for me and fried for Ryan), hash browns, and sausage. It was one of those mornings when I was thankful that my wedding set Martha Stewart pans came in a large set. Using multiple pans helps everything to come out hot and ready at the same time. Ryan and I ate our meal, talked and enjoyed some fun Saturday morning music - shout out to my bff Ashley Gatta for providing the breakfast tunes! After we ate we cleaned up, danced around a bit, and then prepared for the rest of our busy weekend.

I hope that even when we have Eva and the term "sleep in" is redefined that we can continue to have fun on Saturday mornings. And now, after googleling and searching through many pictures of breakfast foods, I believe that I am ready for some homemade waffles topped with fresh strawberries. Who says you can only eat breakfast once a day?
