It's the final countdown....one week til the big 3-0

It seems like only yesterday I was that sweet little baby smiling for my one-year portraits....and yet here I am, about to turn 30. Next week will be my big milestone birthday, so in preparation I thought I would revisit the bucket list I made for myself 6 months ago.
1. Go rock climbing. Check! That's me up there on those rocks. Did this in June with my bff Erica and loved it.
2. Go canoeing. Check! We rented some canoes and went out on the Lake of the Arbuckles. I enjoyed the experience but learned that I would prefer to be in a row boat instead of a canoe.
3. Go on a get away with my husband. Check! Here we are on our 5 year anniversary trip to Oklahoma. While we were there went ziplining, walked across a sky bridge, and rode horses.  I also ate duck and a Dairy Queen dip cone for the first time. So I will give myself 5 bucket list bonus points for all of that.
4. Go on a family overnight trip. Last month we visited East Texas. We had been there once before with Eva but I'm still counting this because it's not someplace we go often. Also we are going on a mini-vacation the week of my birthday. I'm pretty sure that counts as an extra trip. I will give myself 1 more bonus point.
5. Go two stepping. Check! We danced our heart outs at Billy Bobs. We also visited the Fort Worth Stockyards for the first time and played billards together for the first time. 2 bonus points.
6. Make homemade ice cream. Check! Blueberry cheesecake ice cream. It was delicious and a bit messy.
7. Learn to sew. This wasn't even on my list but I did it! So far I've altered a dress for myself, sewn two dresses for Eva, made curtains, place mats, a table runner and put together an entire Halloween costume for Eva. I will award myself 2 additional bonus points for this category.

So as any smart teacher could see, I met all of my bucket list goals and had 10 extra bonus points!!! I might be an overachiever but it probably helped that I set attainable expectations. I feel like I've discovered how much I love to be adventurous (which is so not like me) and creative (more expected). I'm really proud of myself that I did some things that I never would have expected (like walk across a sky bridge?!?)

Morale of the story: I guess I'm ready to turn 30. I've accomplished my pre-30 dreams. Let's do this.
