Walk It Out

I woke up this morning and decided that today would be a perfect day to go on a walk - umm, make that a waddle - around the block. Back before the crazy heat wave that started in July I used to walk Cosby several mornings a week. Since then I have stopped walking him, but I have tried to at least go walk laps around the pool since it was too hot and my feet hurt too much to walk much more than that. I know that it is healthy to stay active when you're pregnant but the realistic side is that sometimes it's really hard to work out! Thankfully the temperatures were breezy this morning and I was feeling so much better after many days of being painfully sick. Plus I know that Cosby will soon get to take a "vacation" to my mom's house for at least a week after I have the baby, so I want to give him extra attention and love. So, I started to get ready for our walk.....

Ironically, I felt the need to put on "exercise clothes," although I wouldn't think that any fitness guru would classify what I did as exercise. I laced up my tennis shoes and pulled my hair back in a pony tail (in case I got sweaty???). I made sure to take my phone with me in case I started out and got to where I couldn't make it back home. Cosby got up off his doggy bed, and with that we were up and out of here!

Ryan likes to joke that I walk at one speed now - slow. I prefer to say that I walk at the speed of a very pregnant woman who feels the pressure of a watermelon inside of her every time she moves. Either way, it was funny to see that even Cosby noticed the extremely slow pace of our walk. He would dart way up ahead on his leash and then look back at me to make sure I was still moving. I'm pretty sure that snails were passing us up as we walked down the street. Usually by the end of the walk I'm pulling him and trying to convince him that he doesn't not actually need to make friends with every fire hydrant and bush. Today though, I was just moseying along behind him and he got to sniff everything in his path. I'm sure it was quite the pathetic site to anybody that drove passed up. But it was nice to get out and enjoy "fall" a little bit. I am now back on the couch with my feet propped up.
