New York, New York

Last night Ryan and I got to go to New York. Okay, not really. But we did get to go to a fancy New York themed Gallery Night fundraiser in Westlake. We were graciously invited by a family at our church to attend and it was such a fun night.

We found out kinda last minute that we were going so I had planned to wear my favorite red party dress, the one my sweet husband got me for Christmas a few years ago. About 20 minutes before we had to leave, after my extended time of hair and makeup, I decided to get dressed...and almost didn't make it into my dress! It was close. Thankfully Ryan was able to zip me up and I could almost even breathe. I think it will probably be a while before I get to wear that dress again. Hopefully everyone who saw me thought, "Oh, she has a baby bump," and not , "Woah, lay off the appetizers, lady."

The event was held at a hotel in Westlake. Ironically it is the same hotel where our church is temporarily meeting until ice-week repairs are made to our regular spot. But walking into the hotel it looked completely different! The regular lobby was transformed into a silent auction area and the hallways were covered in art that people could bid on. Ryan and I had fun walking around and discussing what we wished we could bid on. It was kinda like window shopping :)

We had dinner in the main ballroom that was completely decorated in a New York theme. We were fortunate to dine on New York strip steak and enjoyed New York cheesecake for dessert. I love cheesecake!!! There were even New York playing cards scattered across the table with fun NYC facts labeled on the face of the card to spur dinner discussion. What a cute touch!

The best part of the evening was the live band and dancing! This band was amazing and played old and new tunes from all genres. Everybody was out there shaking what their mama gave them! How often do you get to see the Mayor do the Cuban Shuffle? Ryan and I were giggling thinking about how embarrassed our youth kids would be to see their parents dancing, but it was awesome! I hope my parents are crazy dancers when they go out without me!

We had such a great time and were so thankful to be invited to such a fancy event!
