Saturday night Ryan and I went on a hot date... all the way to
Mountasia Golf & Fun! Normally we reserve the goofiness of miniature golf for vacations, but since we don't have one planned any time soon we decided to go crazy and take a swing at it. Ryan, along with the rest of his family, is so athletic at every sport ever invented, including golf. My family on the other had grew up singing and dancing and never taking sports to seriously. This makes for an interesting match up.

Usually when we play our scores are so far apart that it's almost not even fair. But not last night. I magically became a golf pro. I don't know how I did it. The only thing I concentrated on was holding the putter straight (is that even the correct word???). We played 2 rounds of 18 holes each. After the 1st round WE WERE TIED. What? I was was tied with my golf pro husband? The man who uses his Christmas money to buy better golf equipment? The 2
nd round we continued to be closely matched, each of us occasionally taking the lead by 1 or 2 strokes. And then it happened. The 18
th hole...the one that makes your golf ball disappear...the one that determines bragging rights. It was tricky. There were 2 slopes to battle. Ryan got a 6... and I got only 2!!! I ended up winning our 2 round battle by 4 strokes at the end!!!!!!

Don't worry. Before writing the post, I checked with my husband to make sure that it would in no way offend him as a man. I'm always used to losing at sports, so I didn't want to be a boastful winner and make him feel bad. He told me that I had earned the right to proudly tell the world that I won at putt putt. It may never happen again, so I plan to document this moment and soak in the glory. I am a putt putt champion.
P.S. These pictures are actually from our honeymoon 2 1/2 years ago, but I didn't have my camera with me last night and I feel that they still capture the essence and excitement of miniature golf. Plus Ryan wore a polo last night and I had on a dress, so it's basically the same. Old pics are better than no pics, right?
Way to go!! Ryan and I played putt-putt when we were dating and I said, "Ok, whoever loses has to buy the winner some little gift."
ReplyDeleteGuess who got a yellow rose the next night?
