Eva's Toy Story Birthday Party

About two months ago I started asking Eva what kind of party she wanted for her birthday. I was honestly loving the idea of a Frozen party because I know how popular all things Frozen are and had pinned some really cute ideas. But it was her party, so I let her decide. She was pretty adamant, she wanted a "Buzz" party. So I decided to grant her wish and put together a fun Toy Story birthday party. Starting with these cute birthday party invitations.
Right away I knew I wanted to stick to our plan from last year to keep things small and relatively simple. Just family. Easy decorations. It's hard because I really do like crafting and could spend hours finding ideas online. I try to keep in perspective that it's a child's birthday party...not the Emmy's. She would have probably been happy with a giant balloon and a store bought cake that had Buzz Lightyear on it. I chose to have a bit more fun :) I am really proud of myself because I think I spent maybe $20 total on decorations, including balloons and tableware. There are so many fabulous ideas on Pinterest that include FREE printables. Plus the printables I found were way cuter than anything at Party City. Party City has deemed Toy Story a "boy's birthday" theme and therefore all of their selections were way too boyish. I went with red, blue, yellow, and cow print as our basic party colors and most of the printables I found went along with this.
I couldn't get a great photo, but I was able to print a birthday banner and hung it back behind the table.
I kept the table setting really simple by incorporating a cow print table cloth - one of my FAVORITE finds, thanks Hobby Lobby - along with a few Toy Story toys, most of which were borrowed from a friend.
I set up a smaller table in the playroom for the girls to eat at. This worked well because they would eat and play without me worrying about how much of a mess they might be making.
I printed off several sheets of these Toy Story icons. I made three small banners for the kitchen to hang about the food. I used some to glue on the food labels and saved the rest in case I wanted them as cupcake toppers. I ended up not doing cupcakes, but at least I was prepared.
I found a few 8X10 character printables and borrowed some extra black frames from my mom. This was an easy way to dress up our bar top.
Aside from the cow print table cloth, my other favorite decor were the food labels. I realize that most people at the party probably cared 0% that the food was labeled but it was such an easy, cute way to add a few more Toy Story images throughout the party.
The food was simple, so it was obvious what you were eating, but I thought having each food match a character was so fun!
The labels were meant to be folded in half to make them stand up, but instead I glued an icon picture on top and them hot glued each label to an upside clothes pin to make it stand up by itself.
My Pinterest success! I debated this cake versus cupcakes for a while (like up until a few hours before the party...) and I am so glad I went for it. I just used two bundt cake pans, cut of the extra parts, and added globs of frosting to put them together. This cake looks way harder than it was, really the longest part was picking out all the M&Ms.
Since Eva has been enjoying learning to play new games I thought we would add a few in for her party. I found a printable Toy Story bingo that the girls enjoyed...even my Grandma Dede played along.
And a free Pin the Tail on Bullseye.  The photos of the girls blindfolded crack me up.
And to be a bit edgy, we did Toy Story tattoos.
Next it was time for presents. Our family spoiled Eva with wonderful gifts, and one of her favorites was this nightgown handed down to her from her cousin Mallory. She wore it for about three days after the party until I had to pry it off her to put it in the laundry. Hand me downs are the best!
She also got lots of cool new games like Hungry, Hungry Hippos! We've played this about a thousand times already.
And finally she got a Barbie jeep. Okay, so Ryan and I have this thing about trying not to spoil her, and not going overboard with gifts. Really we had just planned on giving her an ABC Bingo game and a couple of new books. Then our friends happened to be getting rid of their Barbie jeep.....we couldn't turn that down right??? So Eva ended up with her first car.
I "mustache you" a questions....how stinkin' cute are my nieces? At one point they all had on mustaches but one of the cried, and then the other one cried, so you know how that goes. Still cute.
I love this photo of Aunt Amanda with Kiersi and Kayden. Silly girls.
To infinity and beyond! Her daddy sure throws her high in the air!
 With Mamy and Baba.
 With Great Grandpa Hank.
With Nana and Papa
My sweet family. It was a great party day!
