Pomp and Circumstance

Olivia, Baily, Me, and Ryan

Ah, graduation day. Flashback to memories of sitting next to people I had never met. Waiting in a long line to walk across the stage. Hoping not to trip. Wondering why I decided to wear such tall high heal shoes. Debating whether or not the speaker would pronounce my last name correctly. Wishing I was wearing a tiara instead of that stupid flat cap. Yes, it was indeed a big day.

Today was graduation Sunday at Redeemer Church. We honored our Seniors during the service and then Ryan and I got to attend the graduation ceremony for Westlake Academy, the school where most of our youth group students attend.

Here is a little side by side comparison of their graduation compared to mine from Berkner in '02....
1. Location: Westlake- Mariott Hotel, Berkner- SMU Coliseum
2. Number of Seniors: Westlake- 24, Berkner- about 800
3. Speaker: Westlake- Gov. Rick Perry, Berkner- Principal Dave Casey

Yes, the Governor of Texas was there to speak! How cool is that? It was a bit more interesting than listening to our principal. There were also other Congressman there to speak.

Ryan and I are praying for our Seniors as they start a new journey and head off to college. We are thankful for the short time we've gotten to know these sweet girls.

Our Reedemer Church Pastor, Scott Brewer, gave the opening prayer at the ceremony
