Happy Mother's Day

To honor my mom on Mother's Day, I am writing a blog just for her. I haven't blogged in about a month because I've been sick (and therefore haven't done anything blog worthy) and sadly I don't get to see her today. But I have already talked to her at least twice on the phone and I'm sending her my love! Here's to you mom.

My mom when she was about 18. Such a classy picture.
She was so modern.

My mom in her twenties. I love her blonde curls.

My mom with her beautiful baby girl... that's ME!

A picture from college of my mom and me dressed up for a girl's night out. We went to go see the Secret Garden musical. We saw it once when I was little and had to change seats several times. This time we stayed in our actual seats. Thanks, Mom.

My mom and me on my wedding day.

Here are just a few of my favorite things about my mom:

1. When I was little and we went to the library, she always let me check out as many books as I wanted to. And she helped me read all of them.

2. She also taught me how to read in the bathtub. And upside down. And backwards. Yeah, we read alot.

3. She made cookies with me all the time. I was destined to have a Kitchen Aid mixer from the time I was born.

4. She always took care of me when I was sick. And now that I'm a grown-up, she tells me that she wished she could take care of me. It's not quite as good, but I understand.

5. She took me swimming like every night in the summer time and then we came home and watched I Love Lucy and ate popsicles.

6. She let me leave my Barbies set up in the guest room for days at a time. Seems like a small thing, but when it was really important.

7. She asked restaraunt owners if she could take home a couple of old menus so that I could pretend to play restaraunt at home. And she let me set up board game boxes as "tables" all over the house so that I could have a decent restaraunt.

8. She did her best to be excited when I made the cheerleading squad in 8th grade even though I know she was secretly against cheerleading.

9. She always came to all of my theatre performances and brought flowers.

10. She is supportive of my decisions even when they are not exactly what she would choose for me... like when I wanted to spend a month in Kenya.

11. We talk on the phone EVERY day.

12. She loves my husband like a son.

13. She loves my dog like a grandchild.

14. She came to visit our new church on Easter. This was very special for me.

15. She laughs when she reads my blog.

I love you mom. I hope your Mother's Day is special!!!!
