Ice-magedon

Like most Texans we were iced in on Friday. Thankfully it was our family day anyway, so we just made the most of our time frozen indoors together.
First on our agenda - make a Little People village. A year ago we only had the Little People Nativity set and somehow we have now collected enough to create our own village. We set up the castle, the zoo, the nativity, the farm, the North Pole, and the house (which is actually the Weeble home). I've actually been thinking of this idea for months but was waiting until we unpacked the Nativity and North Pole from the Christmas decor. Side note - we definitely do not need any more Little People for Christmas :) Eva is really at an age now where she gets the "let's pretend" part of Little People and it can be pretty fun.
Then we made a Gingerbread craft. We read the story of the Gingerbread Man and then decorated this craft.
Our first craft went by pretty quickly and we knew we had alllll day in the house so I printed off some other pictures for Eva to paint.
Next we watched the movie Wall-E. Yes, that is where we got our daughter's name. And she totally loves it now and will walk around saying, "Waalll-eee" and "Eeeevva". Plus I enjoyed some hot chocolate in a Christmas mug.
We spent lots of time reading Christmas books. This is one of our current favorites.
In the afternoon we bundled up and stepped outside for the first time. Brrrrr. It was cold and that ground was very icy. Definitely not snow.
We took a cookie pan and went sledding down the hill behind us. I would have stayed out longer but a certain two year old got cold and needed to go inside.
My home project for the day - our Christmas card holder. I even walked down to check the mail in case we got any more cards today. Nope. We didn't. So right now it's just those two lonely cards, and one of those is ours.
Eva was hiding behind the Christmas tree. I love that she thought we really couldn't see her.
We ended our night watching The Santa Clause. Eva ran up to the screen and asked Santa for "PRESENTS!"
Today I am thankful for....electricity - warm clothes - heat - a fridge full of food (and soup!) - a healthy family - and the fact that my husband was home all day. I saw so many friends on facebook posting about their husbands being away, either working or stuck somewhere. My prayers go out to all of your families! Praying that everybody makes it home safe and can be snuggled up together soon!
