12 Week Bump

Here is my little 12 week bump. Right now it's still pretty small and not too noticeable, but I can definitely tell a difference. Goodbye abs. Even though I've only gained a couple of pounds, my clothes fit very snugly. I would be so happy to wear a sundress every day instead of pants. It's still weird to adjust to the idea that it's okay to slowly be gaining weight. Women spend so many years thinking, "If I could just loose 5 pounds...." and now I'm being told to gain about 25. One thing I love is the difference in regular workout DVDs and pregnancy DVDs. In my Jillian Michaels video she says, " If you feel like you're going to die, you're probably not. Keep pushing yourself! Don't stop!!!!" In my Denise Austin cardio and toning video she says, " You're doing good and taking good care of your baby. Way to go. Take a break if you need to." She's so positive.

Everyone keeps telling me I should start feeling better soon. I will be so ready for that :) Right now I'm still feeling nauseous and exhausted most of the time, but it is worth it! I probably felt the worst during the week of all the Texas snow, so I was super thankful to work from home, on the couch, in my pajamas.

Ryan has been the best husband the past few months. He does a great job of taking care of me!!! He is encouraging and supportive. He's gone to doctor's appointments with me. He hugs me and doesn't judge when I start crying over silly things. He reminds me to laugh off all the weird changes that happen to your body when you're pregnant. He lets me nap alot and go to sleep early. He helps make dinner. He even cleaned the bathrooms! What a man. I'm glad he is my "Baby Daddy."

A Baby Story

Once upon a time a boy and a girl met on a mission trip to Nashville, TN. They started dating, fell in love, and got married on July 19, 2008. A little more than 2 years later they decided to start praying for God to bless them with a baby. God answered their prayer quickly (a little more quickly than was expected by this young couple!) and began growing a tiny baby inside of an excited young mother. 12 weeks later they are finally ready to share their news with EVERYBODY.

Yes... Ryan and I are having a baby!!!! We went to the doctor for this week and heard the strong heartbeat again and took a picture of our little baby. It was so cute because the baby was wiggling and moving its little hands and feet and then it suddenly flipped upside down! When you look at the sono picture, the head outline is right in the middle with the body beneath and if you look closely you can see the outline of the feet and one hand on the left looks like it is waving. The heartbeat was 160 bpm, so for those who believe in old wives tales, it could be a girl...but we will have to wait and see! I have heard the heartbeat 2 times now and both times my heart immediately responds in awe of God. It is so amazing how a baby grows inside of you! And all I have to do each day is just be and let our amazing creator do the rest! (It also seems to help when I eat the baby's favorite food- Mexican!)

My due date is around September 12, 2011. I'm sure it will be a long, hot Texas summer but it will be so worth it! We're also so excited because Ryan's sister, Amanda is having her baby around June 10th, so our babies will only be 3 months apart!

How I Told Ryan
The weekend of New Years I began to suspect that I might be pregnant. I took a test, but it was negative, so I though, "Oh well. My body must be crazy. Maybe next month." Through out week I kept feeling different. Hmm... I read the sometimes home pregnancy tests can be negative if taken early on. Ryan suggested that maybe I try another one. I kind of shrugged it off. The following Sunday, while Ryan was getting things set up at church, I decided to try one more time. Woah! This one was definitely positive. I wanted to surprise Ryan after church, so I did what any joyful pregnant woman would do and called my best friend Erica! I had to tell somebody right then.

I managed to keep everything a secret all through church that morning (although Ryan said that I seemed extremely happy that day...). This also happened to be the Sunday in January that we got our first snow for the year. After church we came home and I turned on Colbie Caillet's "Capri" which starts out with the lyrics, "She's got a baby inside...." We were dancing in the kitchen and I pulled out my little positive stick. After laughter, tears, and prayers of thanksgiving to the Lord, we ran outside and took a picture with the snow in the background. It's not a wonderful picture because it was so windy and freezing cold, but I love how it captured that moment.

More baby blogging to come in the following month. Thank you to all our of close family and friends who already knew and have loved us and prayed for us and been so supportive when we needed it!

I won? I Won!!!!

Saturday night Ryan and I went on a hot date... all the way to Mountasia Golf & Fun! Normally we reserve the goofiness of miniature golf for vacations, but since we don't have one planned any time soon we decided to go crazy and take a swing at it. Ryan, along with the rest of his family, is so athletic at every sport ever invented, including golf. My family on the other had grew up singing and dancing and never taking sports to seriously. This makes for an interesting match up.
Usually when we play our scores are so far apart that it's almost not even fair. But not last night. I magically became a golf pro. I don't know how I did it. The only thing I concentrated on was holding the putter straight (is that even the correct word???). We played 2 rounds of 18 holes each. After the 1st round WE WERE TIED. What? I was was tied with my golf pro husband? The man who uses his Christmas money to buy better golf equipment? The 2nd round we continued to be closely matched, each of us occasionally taking the lead by 1 or 2 strokes. And then it happened. The 18th hole...the one that makes your golf ball disappear...the one that determines bragging rights. It was tricky. There were 2 slopes to battle. Ryan got a 6... and I got only 2!!! I ended up winning our 2 round battle by 4 strokes at the end!!!!!!
Don't worry. Before writing the post, I checked with my husband to make sure that it would in no way offend him as a man. I'm always used to losing at sports, so I didn't want to be a boastful winner and make him feel bad. He told me that I had earned the right to proudly tell the world that I won at putt putt. It may never happen again, so I plan to document this moment and soak in the glory. I am a putt putt champion.

P.S. These pictures are actually from our honeymoon 2 1/2 years ago, but I didn't have my camera with me last night and I feel that they still capture the essence and excitement of miniature golf. Plus Ryan wore a polo last night and I had on a dress, so it's basically the same. Old pics are better than no pics, right?

Dedicated to the Ones I Love

This blog post is dedicated to all the people I love...starting with my amazing husband! I love this picture that was taken the summer we were engaged. I came home for lunch today to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a funny card, and a gallon of icecream for us to enjoy tonight...What a fun surprise! Thanks, Ryan!!!! I love you the most.
My parents and grandparents. I like this picture that was taken the first time Ryan preached in 2009. I love that my family was there to support him!
And here's my other family...aka the ones that loved my husband from the day he was born! I am thankful that Bruce and Cindy raised him to be such a gentleman, and that Greg and Amanda let him grow up as their brother. Love those Bradleys!
My best friends!!! These girls have been there for me for sooooo long. This picture is from a Christmas party in 2006. I love ya'll and have had so many fun times with you!
Our new friends at Redeemer. I picked this picture from the Sunday they were all baptized because it symbolizes my love for our friends and out mutual love for Christ! I was so proud of all of them for getting baptized and sharing their testimonies!

Happy Valentine's Day! Share it with the one you love.

Snow Dazed

Like the rest of Texas, Ryan and I have been SNOWED IN since Tuesday morning! Wow. When we had ice that first day I didn't imagine that I'd be frozen in our apartment for 4 days! Most of the days we stayed inside because of the extreme wind chills, but yesterday when we got more snow we decided to venture out and play a little!
Cosby wasn't so sure about playing in the snow. Even when he was bundled up, he still sunk pretty deep in the snow!
Snow ball fight? No, just posing for pictures! It was fun to finally be outside! My car is frozen in my parking spot, so we haven't left the apartment yet...hopefully this afternoon! Thankfully our Pastor Scott was nice and brought us a pizza yesterday afternoon for lunch! It was the best meal we got all week!

When we came inside, Cosby was ready to take off his coat - watch how he makes it magically disappear! I think I'm ready for summer now.

February in Texas

I awoke this morning to find a winter wonderland outside our apartment window. The great wintry mix that was predicted did in fact end up snowing us in for today... less than 72 hours after the pictures from my last post were taken!

I love that I can be at home in my pajamas right now. Its funny how snow days are the one time during the year that repeated weather alerts and traffic pictures become intriguing. We all enjoy watching the lone SUV glide over the highway, though most of us are feeling sorry for that poor schmo that had to drive somewhere - you never know, it could be a doctor headed to the hospital, and I respect that - but its not exactly like watching a high speed chase. It also makes me remind myself that I never want to pursue a career as a weather reporter or sand truck driver. How awful does it have to feel to be the few people that have to go to work when the rest of the metroplex stays home? I don't know why but I also enjoy seeing the school closings scroll across the screen, even though I'm not teaching this year. When I saw that Denton ISD was closed, I cheered for my old friends!

This was the view from our balcony this morning. Don't worry, I didn't even step outside, I just held my camera out. On the news I just saw that the windchill outside is 0 degrees! I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be an option in Texas!
So I will enjoy being safely bundled up inside. I am about to start working on some work stuff online, but at least I can be wearing my fuzzy slippers!!!
